A huge thank you to Sensei Dave and everyone who attended the course!
Three new Dan grade (black belts) were achieved by three young ladies who have been training a combined period of 17 years (remarkable at their tender ages).
All three are now experienced competitors, having been part of the Junior squad who compete on the Karate circuit regionally and at the English National championships.
Here are the three girls in their Cimac-Adidas sponsored Gi's having received their Dan grade awards from David Wilson, the Chief Instructor of The Martial Arts Centre:
Left to right:
Abbie Sutton - aged 12
Evelyn Higgon - aged 10 (The centre's youngest ever Karate black belt)
Isla Scott - aged 12
Cimac-Adidas are one of the (if not the number one) major UK suppliers of Martial Arts equipment, and now sponsor The Martial Arts Centre competition squads. A major coup for the Centre.
The three girls are part of the Centre's Junior Karate squad and between them in the last year, have medalled at the prestigious SENI London Open Championships and The English National championships. They are excellent Martial Artists and their Instructor says of them:
"All three girls have performed at the highest level nationally and have proved what can be done with hard work, and of course talent. They are an excellent example to our younger members who look upon them as role medals. They have been training basically since they started school and have never had a break from training, apart from the odd holiday and illness, all our young members are progressing very well and our recent grading where the girls passed their Dan (black belt) was of an excellent standard."
Three of our older boys, Danny Bates, Aaron Mellor and Jack Reed also became Black belts after years of dedicated training. The boys had been putting in more training hours in readiness for their Dan grade test and it paid off with three very good gradings, and sharp techniques allied with fitness.
Also shown is a photo of those who also successfully graded at the Centre's September grading, in what was one of our technically best gradings ever.
Well done everybody.
We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Jon Hegan Academy, please see the below link.
Sensei Wilson trained under Jon in Krav Maga back in the late 90's and this year resumed training with him.
Sensei will be teaching Krav Maga in the Centre next year following completion of the Instructor's exam.
Jon is amongst the foremost Krav Maga instructors to be found anywhere and the first ever person in the UK to take the coveted Royce Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt test.
Jon and Sensei have known each other for some 25 years and trained together at the beginning of their Martial Arts careers.
We are excited with our new relationship and welcome The Jon Hegan Academy.
We are delighted to announce that our Manager, and Fitness Instructor, Vicky Edwards has successfully passed the Safeguarding of Children Course (Level 1).
This important qualification sits alongside our child protection policy and underlines how important we view our student's safety.
Our very own 1st Dan running girl, Courtney Gordon, recently run a PB for the 800 metres, of 2 minutes 19 seconds. This qualified her for the English National Championships Under 15s to take place at the end of August in Bedford.
GOOD LUCK COURTNEY !!
This weekend (26/7/15) Courtney is running in another event, 1500 metres, where she aims to beat her current PB of 4 minutes 50 seconds.
She is a credit to the Centre in the way she conducts herself, and is a dedicated young lady to her chosen sports. Well done Courtney.
See you in the Olympics in the not too distant future !!!
England Internationals - Sensei Aimee Sell and Sensei Kate Karwacinski, at the TMAC Seminar 2015.
Our Boxercise class says good luck to Ipswich FC star to be Joshua, who we helped prepare for the coming season.
Good luck Josh !!
We are proud to announce a new sponsorship deal for our competition squads, with one of the largest (and most prestigious) Martial Arts equipment companies that there is, also, probably the world’s most renowned sports brand ever.

We are particularly proud to have acquired the sponsor as this puts us amongst a select group of fellow reputable Martial Arts Associations.
