At the Martial Arts Centre we practise Traditional Japanese Karate together with Kickboxing.
We believe that with hard work and dedication improvements will be accomplished.
We ask that when our members attend to train they adopt this approach and improvements will follow.
The Chief Instructor of The Martial Arts Centre is Sensei David Wilson who was a Senior member of the United Kingdom Tang Soo Do Association, Korean Karate, and had a successful competition career culminating in a Silver Medal at the World Tang Soo Do Championships in 1991.
Sensei Wilson then joined Sensei Simon Kidd and his Chief Instructor, Ticky Donovan (O.B.E.) of the Ishinryu Karate association in 1998.
Sensei Wilson stayed with Sensei Kidd as a Senior Instructor with the Kazen Kai association, until 2012, when it was felt that the time had come to be independent, and develop The Martial Arts Centre.
In 2008 Sensei Wilson entered the European Masters Games Kumite (fighting) and was one of only two Medallists for England winning a Silver Medal.
In 2011 Sensei Wilson again entered the European Masters Games Kumite and again achieved a Silver Medal.
The European Masters Games is a mini Olympics for the over 35 year old Athletes from all around Europe.
Sensei Wilson was also an inaugural Director of the English Karate Federation when this body was set up to Govern Karate in England.
At The Martial Arts Centre we practice traditional Karate (light contact, points and full contact Karate), WKF Competition Karate with Squad sessions, Kickboxing (light contact, points and full contact Kickboxing) and Self Defence.
