When did you start your Self Defence training?
I started training in karate when I was around 8 years old then kick boxing and boxing. Later in life I found Krav Maga and Royce Gracie Jiu Jitsu.

Why did you start this training?
Both my children train in karate at TMAC, during one of there lessons I heard a new class was starting 'krav maga' it intrigued me so I went along and absolutely loved it. Someone said RGJJ would be good for me too so I went along to that and again loved it. I really felt i had found 'my thing'.

Who was your first Instructor?
Sensei David Wilson, Jon Hegan and Paul Cudmore

There are so many it's hard to choose. Having said that I like the simple ones that make sense but that you just wouldn't of thought of in a tricky situation.

Do you feel self defence has influenced your personal life in any way?
Yes most definitely I am so much more confident. I'm more relaxed in social situations. I am physically fitter and feel able to protect myself and my family if needed. I have also made lifelong friends through training.

Do you have any views on how self defence is perceived?
I think some people who do not train in martial arts think it's all about fighting violence and aggression. However this is not the case. I truly believe everybody should know basic self defence.

Do you have any other interests?
Well I am Dads taxi taking my children to there clubs most of the time. I also help coach my sons football team. I enjoying weightlifting when I get a chance. Swimming and bike rides with my family. Family time is the most important to me so being able to train with them is the best.

What are your current goals?
I would love to teach self defence full time to a range of ages and abilities including in schools as part of there PE curriculum and to keep learning, training and progressing.
