AMA International Karate Championships, Sheffield

Our squad travelled up to Sheffield for the AMA International Karate Championships held on 26th and 27th May 2018.

Thrown into the event unexpectedly upon arrival by the England selectors, our girls team (underage) obtained a well deserved bronze medal podium finish for team Kata!

Isla & Evie were also on the podium for a pairs bronze medal in Kata. After a tie for 2nd place, narrowly losing the silver by just 3/10ths of a point!!

It was a fantastic finish to day one when Isla came out with a Silver medal for individual Kata.

The day also saw Evie and Paige making it into the Semi final of a huge category. Abbie was in a group that contained the GB and world champions but gave a good performance. Peter and Benjamin were in a group of 42 but both gave good performances that will stand them in good stead for the future.

Day two bought more excellent news - ISLA SCOTT, AMA INTERNATIONAL OPEN KUMITE CHAMPION 2018!!! A fantastic performance with a total of 19 points scored and only 1 conceded on her way to an excellent gold medal!

Well done to our amazing squad!!
